The Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica - Philippines

The Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica - Philippines

The Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica, informally known as the Manila Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic basilica located in Manila, Philippines, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary as Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, the Principal Patroness of the Philippines. The cathedral serves as the see of the Archbishop of Manila, the de facto Primate of the Philippines. Located at Plaza de Roma in the Intramuros district of Manila, the cathedral was originally a parish church owned and governed by the Diocese of Mexico in 1571, until it became a separate diocese on February 6, 1579 upon the issuance of the papal bull, Illius Fulti Praesido by Pope Gregory XIII. Ocean Liner MS Philippines - Manila Philippines

Ocean Liner MS Philippines - Manila Philippines

MS Philippines, was a floating hotel and restaurant at Manila. MS Augustus was a 27,090 GRT, luxurious ocean liner built in 1950 for Italian Line. She was the sister ship to MS Giulio Cesare that was launched in the same year. These two ships were built to the same design, with similar specifications. After the Augustus was sold to Hong Kong, she sailed under five names. The ship was later sold to Manila Hotel and renamed MS Philippines, functioning as a static hotel. As reported by both Maritimematters, and ssmaritime, the MS Philippines, was sold for scrap in September 2011. As of December 2011, she was beached in Alang for scrapping.

Puerto Galera is a small town on the Philippine island Mindoro, founded by the Spaniards. The reason for this was the bay, which offered outstanding protection during tropical storms and typhoons for their ships. The Name Puerto Galera - port of the galleys - came from this. Since today, the Puerto Galera Bay is used from big ferries and fright ships during typhoon alert. But it is the outstanding beauty of the Puerto Galera Bay what makes it so special that several travel magazines awarded the titel "most beautiful bay of the world" to Puerto Galera.
